My Body Is Ready: Catwoman Playable in Arkham City

Did I seriously miss E3 or something? Usually news the week or so before the Electronic Entertainment Expo is pretty scarce due to game designers, publishers and even media personelle preparing for the big show. This is pretty much what I've become use to for the last decade. Thus, it's always surprising when some pretty notable things get dropped before the big event.

And let's admit, what's bigger than some Arkham City news especially when it comes to playable characters? Rocksteady's follow-up to the 2009 critically acclaimed Batman Arkham Asylum is looking to be more ambitious than its predecessor. With the game boasting over 40 hours of ingame content, the addition of Catwoman as a playable character may help justify that bulletpoint.

Players will be able to start these Selina Kyle side missions by finding her in various locations throughout the game's map. Other than that there will be set moments during the game's story where players must dawn the cat claws themselves. While technically not the first time a secondary character has been thrown into the mix, it is the first time that both home consoles will have access to them. Playstation 3 owners of Arkham Asylum were treated to special combat rooms that starred the Joker himself. It was certainly a nice change of pace as of course he did not have access to the same gadgets Batman did throughout the main game. My problem was that the Joker required a whole different mindset while playing as him. Not having full access to detective vision and even the Bat-hook really changed things up to the point where I really didn't know what I was doing, let alone how to even pass some of his challenges. Here's hoping that Selina is more user friendly.

Random rambling aside, you can check out Catwoman's snazzy trailer courtesy of Gamespot. Backed by Lykke Li's "Get Some", the Swedish songstress really does go hand in hand with the feline fatale.
